The wave

Thailand

Thailand breaks off Pulau Sialik, five minutes by boat across the channel at the south-east tip of Simeulue. After a manageable drop, the wave opens into a long, big-shouldered wall of around 200 metres, breaking in deep water over well-covered reef with living coral. The walls are forgiving: the ideal place to practise turns and build confidence.

Shortboard, longboard or fish, it all works. It holds size and gets more demanding past double overhead, so match the day to your level. The water is clear enough to snorkel between sessions.
