Good to know

Questions we get a lot.

01What does a typical day at Dylan's Retreat look like?

You wake up when you want. Breakfast is served from 6 to 10 am: pancakes, smoothie bowls, eggs any way you like them, everything home-made.

Then it is up to you. Dylan's Right breaks right in front of the resort, so the morning session is a short walk out. You can also rent a scooter and a board and go looking for waves along the coast. Sinabang, the closest town, is 20 minutes away by scooter and has everything you might need.

For lunch, either you ordered a lunch box from the kitchen in the morning and take it with you, or you come back and eat at the resort.

Same idea in the afternoon: many guests ride to The Peak by scooter for a second session, others stay by the pool.

Dinner is around 7 pm, all together around the big wooden table.

02Do you organise boat trips to other waves?

Yes. We organise boat trips to Thailands and Tea Bags, two waves you cannot reach by scooter. Tell us the day before and we sort out the boat and the crew. Boat trips are at extra cost, see our services page.

03How much does it cost to bring my surfboards on the plane?

The last flight, from Medan to Simeulue, charges about 1,000,000 IDR per board. If you travel with several boards, we can arrange to send your board bag by ferry for much less. Ask us on WhatsApp before you fly and we will organise it.

04Is there a dress code?

Shorts and a t-shirt are fine for surfing and for getting around.

Simeulue is part of Aceh, a conservative region. When going to town, women should dress a little more conservatively than at the resort.

05How do I book and pay?

Pick a room, choose your dates and send us a request from the website. We hold the room for 48 hours and e-mail you the bank details (Bank Mandiri, Indonesia). To confirm, you transfer a 25% deposit. The remaining 75% is due one week before you arrive. If you book less than a week ahead, the full amount is due straight away.

Once your deposit arrives we confirm your booking by e-mail.

No card payment online for now. If you prefer to talk first, write to us on WhatsApp, we answer quickly.
