T-bags

Tea Bags breaks off Pulau Tapah, a boat ride out from Busung Bay. It is a freight-train right over a shallow fringing reef: fast, hollow and unforgiving, with wide barrels running for up to 75 metres. It holds very big days and it demands commitment, so it is for advanced, confident surfers only.

The sweet spot is a swell from 220 to 230 degrees: too south and it becomes too fast to make. It works on all tides and likes a south-east wind. Booties are recommended. If it looks like too much, the neighbouring island of Mincau has white beaches, clear water and a gentler little wave.
